Best Movies of 2025

A ranked selection of 2025's strongest feature films, weighing direction, writing, performance, sound and visual imagination across languages and genres. First public release determines the year, including festival premieres: a film first shown in 2025 stays here even if its wider cinema or streaming release came in 2026. Original features and adaptations compete on the same terms; television and rereleases are excluded. This is an editorial ranking, not an awards tally or a forecast, researched through 31 October 2026. Some selections contain sexual violence or other distressing material.
