Fargo (2014)

People explain their own decency while greed, fear and wounded pride lead them somewhere indefensible. The anthology format offers different casts and periods, with a persistent contrast between polite speech and grotesque violence. Season one is a strong introduction to that balance. Its elaborate criminal disasters reward a taste for absurdity, but the deaths are frequently nasty.
