Shutter Island (2010)

A storm-bound institution, guarded conversations and Teddy Daniels's troubling visions make this investigation feel increasingly difficult to read. Martin Scorsese gives Leonardo DiCaprio's marshal a forceful conviction, then fills the frame with details that invite competing explanations. Pick it for an immersive, menacing mystery whose emotional unease matters as much as the clues.
