Notes and instant photographs ought to make reliable clues. Christopher Nolan makes you work for that certainty by moving backwards through a man's search while his short-term memory repeatedly fails him. Guy Pearce gives the puzzle an urgent human centre: you are weighing each scrap of evidence with someone who cannot hold on to it. Best when you can give it your full attention.

About Memento
Leonard Shelby is tracking down the man who raped and murdered his wife. The difficulty of locating his wife's killer, however, is compounded by the fact that he suffers from a rare, untreatable form of short-term memory loss. Although he can recall details of life before his accident, Leonard cannot remember what happened fifteen minutes ago, where he's going, or why.
