Best Movies of 2022

A ranked selection of 2022's strongest feature films, comparing direction, writing, performance, sound and visual imagination across languages, genres, documentary and animation. First public release determines the year, including festival premieres, so a later regional cinema or streaming date does not change eligibility. The order reflects an editorial assessment of the films themselves, with popular work and smaller discoveries judged on their achievements. Television and rereleases are excluded. Researched through 31 October 2026.
