Perfect Days (2023)

A Tokyo toilet cleaner's repeated working days give you a pattern to settle into, then small variations become the drama. Music on cassette, light through leaves and Kōji Yakusho's changing expression keep the routine specific. This is an accessible bridge into slower viewing rather than its most austere example: it still has a clear character journey. The pleasure is noticing how a familiar task or encounter feels different the next time.
