The Turin Horse (2011)

Wind seems to press against every repeated act of dressing, fetching water and eating potatoes. Béla Tarr and Ágnes Hranitzky use mobile black-and-white long takes to make a father and daughter's dwindling world physically felt. The routine gives you something concrete to follow while tiny losses become enormous. This is the harshest sensory immersion here, with little relief or explanation; choose it for concentrated atmosphere and endurance rather than a restorative rural retreat.
