Possum (2018)

A disgraced puppeteer carries something repellent through bare rooms and bleak stretches of Norfolk, and the film refuses to make looking at it comfortable. The puppet's long limbs are disturbing even when it stays still; the return to a childhood home supplies a different, human kind of dread. There is a forceful late startle. Most of the experience is oppressive repetition and unresolved trauma, with deliberately little relief or forward momentum.
