Ocean's Eleven (2001)
Movie
Released
Compared with the 1960 Rat Pack film, this casino robbery gives the supporting crew more comic jobs to do. Soderbergh makes recruiting, rehearsing and improvising part of the pleasure, with Clooney and Pitt setting an amused, unhurried rhythm. The original has the attraction of its stars sharing a room; the 2001 version turns that ease into a much more intricate machine. It is the one to choose for an ensemble whose small pay-offs keep arriving after the headline trick.
