Heat (1995)
Movie
Released
170 minutes, 2016 remastered cinema version. The robbery and pursuit are only part of the attraction: the people trying to sustain relationships around those routines make professional obsession feel costly. Michael Mann lets domestic scenes alter how you read the extraordinary competence on display. Its length builds a parallel world for pursuer and pursued, giving the eventual confrontations more weight than a string of spectacular jobs would provide.
