Malcolm X (1992)
Movie
Released
202 minutes, theatrical cut. Denzel Washington lets Malcolm's public voice and private bearing change across distinct phases of a life, so convictions emerge as things formed and reconsidered through experience. Spike Lee gives institutions, friendships and a marriage space alongside the speeches. The scale earns its time through transformation, rather than treating a historical figure as a fixed collection of famous positions.
