RRR (2022)

181 minutes, Telugu-language US release. A friendship gives the huge action its emotional through-line, while concealed duties keep changing what its two heroes can offer one another. Songs and flamboyant physical set pieces are essential changes of rhythm, not pauses to be endured between plot points. S.S. Rajamouli makes the scale exuberant and legible, with intense violence and a fiercely heightened treatment of colonial history.
