Parents driving towards their daughter's reported accident cannot see what she describes, so every instruction and interruption enlarges the darkness beyond the windscreen. Rosamund Pike and Matthew Rhys make the divided front seat as tense as the unseen road ahead. This is the choice for calls that destabilise reality itself. The final movement invites interpretation rather than neatly resolving every practical question.
