Hot Rod (2007)
Movie
Released
An aspiring stuntman's heroic self-image is several sizes larger than his abilities. Andy Samberg and the ensemble commit to that mismatch without endlessly signalling that they know it is absurd. The film's following thrives on sudden tonal detours and throwaway exchanges that become funnier through familiarity. Its silliness is deliberately ungainly, with affection beneath the blows.

About Hot Rod
For Rod Kimble, performing stunts is a way of life, even though he is rather accident-prone. Poor Rod cannot even get any respect from his stepfather, Frank, who beats him up in weekly sparring matches. When Frank falls ill, Rod devises his most outrageous stunt yet to raise money for Frank's operation -- and then Rod will kick Frank's butt.
