The small flashes of Clark trying to decide what his strength obliges him to do are more interesting than the sheer amount of damage in the finale. Henry Cavill's restraint and the weight of the early flight imagery make a case for this solemn version of Superman. The prolonged city destruction remains a substantial trade-off, especially if buoyancy is what you want from the character.
