The 13th Warrior (1999)
Movie
Released
An outsider slowly learning how his companions speak creates a useful bridge into a grim expedition. Antonio Banderas's watchfulness and the firelit group compositions make the journey's camaraderie more compelling than its compressed exposition. It is a rough, violent adventure with an abbreviated feel, but the small rituals of the travelling band give it a particular pull.
