Support the Girls (2018)
Movie
Released
Regina Hall's Lisa manages a sports bar through a day of staffing problems, customer demands and managerial interference. Her seriousness is the sensible part: the comedy comes from how much care an employer expects one person to improvise under ridiculous conditions. Support the Girls is a valuable counterpoint to the petty-kingdom entries here, giving the workers humour and solidarity instead of treating them as punchlines. Choose it for an observant, bittersweet ensemble rather than a stream of big comic set pieces.
