Clerks (1994)

Dante's conviction that he should not have been working that day gives every customer a chance to become a personal injustice. Across the counter, Randal treats the neighbouring video shop as a platform for his own opinions. Clerks makes a tiny retail territory large enough for friendship, resentment and spectacularly unhelpful debate. Its rough black-and-white look suits the trapped-shift feeling. This is the abrasive, talk-heavy choice, with sexual jokes and language much cruder than the modest setting might suggest.
