The Rainmaker (1997)
Movie

Matt Damon's inexperienced lawyer has to look attentive before he can look formidable. Danny DeVito supplies an enjoyably shabby contrast, and Mary Kay Place gives the disputed insurance case a lived-in sorrow. The film's ensemble is the attraction: professional confidence, economic power and private grief occupy the same room. It is more humane legal melodrama than a lesson in flawless advocacy.
