Decision to Leave (2022)
Movie
Released
Decision to Leave was South Korea's shortlisted International Feature Film submission but missed the final nominations at the 2023 ceremony. Germany's All Quiet on the Western Front won. Park Chan-wook's case is visual rather than merely twist-driven: screens, reflections and imagined proximity make a detective's attention part of the romance he is investigating. Tang Wei and Park Hae-il keep attraction and suspicion active together. The omission makes a lively argument for this particular kind of controlled ambiguity.
