Tony Schwartz (sound archivist)
Person
Born
Schwartz brought sound design to political advertising. His contribution to the 1964 Daisy advertisement, made with Doyle Dane Bernbach for Lyndon Johnson, helped turn a child's counting into a nuclear countdown. The sound supplies the connection before a policy argument is made. It is an influential example of emotional communication and an unsettling fear appeal, with authorship shared across the production team.
