The Hearing (2024)
Movie
Released
Lisa Gerig's documentary reconstructs asylum interviews with former applicants, then changes the relationship between the interviewers and those being questioned. The interest is in what an official conversation can demand from memory, language and proof. Its restrained form invites scrutiny of procedure rather than the suspense of a conventional border thriller.
