The Story of Qiu Ju (1992)
Movie
Released
A woman seeking an apology keeps taking her complaint to another level of authority, even as the process changes what winning might mean. Gong Li's persistence gives an accessible human shape to the chain of offices and journeys. The dry humour leaves room for a more troubling question about proportionality and consequences.
