Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988)
Movie

Christopher Lloyd's Judge Doom barely accommodates the comic rhythm of Who Framed Roger Rabbit. His severe posture and unblinking attention make the sight of a small cartoon creature in his care suddenly frightening. Bob Hoskins gives Eddie Valiant the weary humanity that lets the mixed world feel solid; Lloyd makes authority seem alien within it. The villain's stillness steals focus in a film full of movement. Some threats to cartoon characters are much harsher than the family-friendly surface suggests.
