The Lion King (1994)

Jeremy Irons gives Scar the drowsy diction of someone who regards everybody else's enthusiasm as an imposition. That tone makes Simba's youthful eagerness feel particularly exposed. The animators let a lazy paw or lowered eyelid become an act of contempt, so the villain has a complete comic presence before the story becomes tragic. This is the 1994 animated Lion King, whose uncle-nephew conflict includes a parent's death and sustained menace.
