BYD identified Wang as its largest shareholder at the end of 2024, with a 17.82% stake. The battery business he founded had expanded into vehicles while admitting other investors and maintaining listings in Shenzhen and Hong Kong. His continuing holding was large without being a majority. Reading it against the company's entire issued share capital matters, since percentages of the separately traded A or H shares describe different denominators.
