Arrested Development (2003)

A casual phrase or an object left in the background may become a joke several episodes later. The Bluth family's financial collapse gives the writers endless ways to expose vanity and denial, with the narrator quietly undermining nearly everyone. The original three seasons earn this recommendation through unusually dense callbacks and an ensemble that rewards close attention. Watch in order; the later revival is a different, less reliable proposition.
