Friends (1994)

The six-person ensemble is the achievement: a joke can travel through the group and come back funnier because each reaction is so distinct. Matthew Perry's timing, Lisa Kudrow's unpredictable phrasing and the physical confidence of the cast give familiar relationship troubles a particular bounce. Few sitcoms make a recurring set of rooms feel so inviting. Come for comic chemistry and friendship; some jokes about sexuality, gender and bodies have dated badly.
