The repair shop gives the famous typewriter enthusiasts something firmer to stand on: somebody must find parts, diagnose faults and make these machines usable. Doug Nichol's portrait connects an affection for mechanical writing to the labour that supports it. The shop's struggle matters more here than treating analogue tools as automatically superior to digital ones.
