Wealthy People Who Made Public Giving Commitments

Public promises say different things about wealth, timing and control. This historical reference list examines dated commitments, separating intentions from completed transfers and crediting joint pledges. Compare Buffett's percentage, Gates's closing date and Feeney's giving-while-living example to see the distinctions. Most entries concern the Giving Pledge, a public commitment rather than a pooled grant fund. Selection reflects the specificity of the public record, not a ranking of generosity or a claim that every pledge was fulfilled.
