Boss (2011)

Kelsey Grammer's Chicago mayor has accumulated enough power to make almost every relationship an instrument. A serious diagnosis makes the effort of concealing weakness increasingly consequential. The language of duty repeatedly covers a struggle to remain indispensable. This acclaimed but low-rated two-season drama is much grimmer than Succession, and its cancellation means accepting an interrupted larger story.
