Man of Steel (2013)
Movie
Released
Warner's third US trailer, released in April 2013, gives Clark's outsider childhood, discovery and flight the shape of an uplifting miniature origin story. Hans Zimmer's rising score makes the question of what this person could become feel enormous. The film retains that earnestness, but its long stretches of destructive combat change the emotional balance. Compare the trailer's clear movement towards possibility with the feature's heavier burden of mythology and catastrophe.
