Lady Bird (2017)

A daughter and mother can wound each other in the middle of discussing money or getting dressed. Saoirse Ronan and Laurie Metcalf make those collisions affectionate as well as exhausting. Sacramento is somewhere to escape and somewhere that has formed her; the film notices both impulses before offering easy nostalgia.
