Patriot (2015)

An intelligence officer has to maintain cover as an employee of an industrial-piping company while a difficult mission keeps acquiring further practical problems. The deadpan workplace detail makes even a supposedly simple errand feel consequential. John Tavner's competence and distress are inseparable, with songs expressing what the job requires him to conceal. It is an unusually funny, melancholy route from Jimmy's improvisations; its two-season story remains unfinished.
