Kaouther Ben Hania builds a reconstruction around the real recorded calls of a child seeking rescue in Gaza. Actors portray the Red Crescent workers, making the boundary between source recording and enactment essential to understanding the film. The anguish lies in people trying to turn listening into help; the child's real distress makes this an especially demanding choice.
