Son of Saul (2015)

The narrow focus stays close to a member of the Sonderkommando at Auschwitz, allowing much horror to remain at the edge of sight. Géza Röhrig's concentration makes a desperate personal task feel both necessary and almost impossible. The central story is fictional within a researched historical setting; the sensory experience is harrowing.
