Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002)
6.6/10on IMDb
Released
Anakin and Padmé have to carry a tragedy, yet their courtship gives them surprisingly little ordinary pleasure in each other's company. The formal dialogue makes flirtation sound like declarations prepared in advance. An unhealthy attachment can be dramatically convincing; here I struggle with the leap from remembered childhood affection to an overwhelming adult love.
2
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)
6.4/10on IMDb
Released
Valerian keeps pressing his romantic case while Laureline has to keep the mission and often him on track. Their colourful universe offers more surprising encounters than their banter does. The performers have flashes of comic timing, but the writing asks persistent pursuit to do the work of showing why this particular partnership should become a love story.
3
Spectre (2015)
6.8/10on IMDb
Released
Bond and Madeleine move through danger with the poise of people who know the genre, but the film soon asks their connection to justify a major change in his life. Léa Seydoux gives Madeleine a guarded interior; the shared scenes leave me less convinced that Bond has discovered it. The objection is to the speed of the commitment within this film.
4
Jurassic World (2015)
6.9/10on IMDb
Released
Owen and Claire begin with competing approaches to the park, an opposition that could reveal something about both of them. Instead, bickering and rescue keep taking the place of mutual curiosity. Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard have the energy for a lively double act; I want more evidence that these two would choose each other once the emergency ends.
5
Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015)
7.3/10on IMDb
Released
Natasha's ability to calm Bruce creates an intimate image before the romance has much room to develop. Their conversation at the farmhouse supplies vulnerability, but the crowded ensemble then has to hurry onward. Scarlett Johansson and Mark Ruffalo find tenderness in the pauses; the relationship feels assigned a significance the film has too little space to explore.
6
Passengers (2016)
7.0/10on IMDb
Released
Jim's deception removes Aurora's freedom before their apparent meet-cute can begin. That violation is meant to disturb us; the harder sell is the film's later movement towards romantic reassurance. The stars make the early companionship appealing, which sharpens my objection to how a shared emergency is asked to carry the burden of rebuilding trust.
7
The Tourist (2010)
6.0/10on IMDb
Released
Elise's control and Frank's uncertainty should create a teasing imbalance, with every invitation suggesting another motive. Angelina Jolie sustains the enigmatic glamour; Johnny Depp's hesitant responses rarely turn that into a compelling exchange. Even allowing for the plot's games with identity, I miss the sense that these people enjoy testing one another.
8
The Mountain Between Us (2017)
6.4/10on IMDb
Released
Ben and Alex become credible partners in survival because they must solve immediate problems together. The romance asks that emergency intimacy to extend further than the character writing persuades me it can. Idris Elba and Kate Winslet are attentive actors, and the contrast is revealing: shared practical dependence registers more strongly than a life beyond the mountain.
9
The Mummy (2017)
5.4/10on IMDb
Released
Nick and Jenny have a past encounter and plenty of danger, but their supposed connection keeps being crowded out by the film's competing obligations. Tom Cruise supplies urgency and Annabelle Wallis has the task of making Jenny's expertise audible amid it. The rescues suggest attachment; the quieter exchanges seldom make it feel particular to these two people.

Snow White (2025)
2.2/10on IMDb
Released
Jonathan's bandit swagger gives Snow White somebody to challenge, and the new songs give the pairing a polished romantic surface. Rachel Zegler's conviction does much of the emotional lifting. I find the shared purpose more persuasive than the courtship: the film knows what her leadership should become before it has made this particular love feel indispensable.
