Critical (2015)
7.5/10on IMDb
First aired
A trauma team works through one patient's most dangerous hour in each episode, making a delayed decision or missing piece of information immediately consequential. Lennie James leads Jed Mercurio's 2015 drama with an authority that still has to function through other people. It is the most direct route from The Pitt's compressed-time pressure. Sky cancelled the thirteen-episode series after one run; the attraction is the demanding case work rather than a long ensemble future.

Code Black (2015)
8.1/10on IMDb
First aired
An overcrowded Los Angeles emergency department keeps asking its staff to do more than the available resources comfortably allow. Marcia Gay Harden gives the senior doctor's expectations force, while the team has to absorb repeated collisions between urgency and experience. This is a more heightened network drama than The Pitt, with bigger emotional signals. It offers the familiar pleasure of watching an ensemble learn to coordinate under pressure.

ER (1994)
7.9/10on IMDb
First aired
The early seasons put you into County General's moving current of arrivals, handovers and unfinished conversations. Noah Wyle's Carter has to learn where to stand and when to ask as much as what to do. It is the obvious ancestral companion to The Pitt for good reason: the department feels larger than any one person. Start with the 1994 opening; the fifteen-season run later becomes much more spectacular.

Berlin ER (2025)
First aired
A doctor seeking a fresh start takes charge of a Berlin emergency room whose exhausted staff have reasons to resist another proposed reform. The 2025 German-language drama makes the gap between a sensible plan and the conditions required to carry it out its main source of friction. It is a strong next step for The Pitt's competing professional perspectives, with black humour doing some of the work of keeping the team upright.

Interns (2018)
8.0/10on IMDb
First aired
Junior doctors in a French public hospital inherit responsibilities they are not comfortably prepared to carry when senior staff are kept away. The series, originally titled Hippocrate, makes asking for help a practical problem when the people who should provide it are missing. It is especially useful for viewers drawn to The Pitt's training relationships. The 2018 television series is distinct from Thomas Lilti's earlier film of the same French name.

Bodies (2004)
8.3/10on IMDb
First aired
A new registrar in an obstetrics unit begins to recognise dangerous practice and discovers that noticing it does not make challenging it straightforward. Jed Mercurio's 2004 British drama turns hierarchy into a problem with immediate consequences for patients. It is far more accusatory than The Pitt, with graphic clinical scenes and distressing childbirth. Choose it for the tension between professional responsibility and an institution's instinct to protect itself.

Sirens (2011)
8.0/10on IMDb
First aired
Three paramedics use abrasive humour to get through calls that expose them to people at their least controlled. The 2011 British series moves between the practical teamwork of an ambulance crew and the personal habits they cannot leave off duty. It is a looser, cruder companion to The Pitt's staff-room exchanges, with distress beneath the banter. This is the six-episode Channel 4 original, cancelled after one series, rather than the American remake.

The Responder (2022)
7.5/10on IMDb
First aired
A Liverpool response officer works nights while trying to manage pressures that are eroding his judgement. Martin Freeman makes each apparently containable call arrive with the weight of the previous one, and a new colleague cannot simply inherit his account of what good work looks like. The connection is the accumulating shift rather than medicine. It is bleak, morally compromised television with little of The Pitt's reassuring collective competence.

Southland (2009)
8.5/10on IMDb
First aired
A rookie and his training officer patrol Los Angeles, where a routine interaction can require a decision neither can delegate upwards. The ensemble makes experience useful without making it proof that a person is safe to trust. Its immediate street-level texture is a good route from The Pitt's teaching under pressure, with a much more troubling view of authority. Five seasons leave major personal threads unresolved after cancellation.

Boiling Point (2023)
7.7/10on IMDb
First aired
Carly's restaurant kitchen has to keep serving while financial pressure, exhaustion and personal difficulties compete for everybody's attention. The 2023 television continuation of the 2021 film makes coordination visible through the work itself. It is the non-medical choice for viewers who liked The Pitt's constant need to prioritise, rather than its particular procedures. Watching the film first gives the returning crew's relationships their history.
