Southland (2009)

A rookie and his training officer patrol Los Angeles, where a routine interaction can require a decision neither can delegate upwards. The ensemble makes experience useful without making it proof that a person is safe to trust. Its immediate street-level texture is a good route from The Pitt's teaching under pressure, with a much more troubling view of authority. Five seasons leave major personal threads unresolved after cancellation.
