C/o Kancharapalem (2018)

Telugu, directed by Venkatesh Maha. Overlapping love stories in a Visakhapatnam neighbourhood make age, faith and social position visible through the business of everyday life. Local performers and conversational detail give the film an unusually welcoming texture. A gentle-looking but emotionally substantial alternative to the action spectacle, best approached without reading how its different strands eventually relate.
