Apu's unplanned marriage makes companionship feel like a gradual discovery, with Soumitra Chatterjee and Sharmila Tagore giving small domestic adjustments enormous warmth. This is the final part of the Apu trilogy: the adult story remains followable, though the earlier films deepen its history. The older exception is a route into Ray through intimacy, with profound grief ahead.
