Big Boys (2022)

A young man arriving at university after a bereavement finds an unlikely friendship that changes the shape of his new life. Jack Rooke's comedy understands the difficulty of becoming independent while still needing a family, including one you partly assemble yourself. Its completed three-series run offers Derry Girls' movement between outrageous banter and emotional precision. The later story about mental illness and loss can hit much harder than the campus setup suggests.
