Midnight Diner (2014)
Movie
Released
A counter open through the night gives people whose days have gone badly a temporary place in an ordinary routine. Joji Matsuoka lets particular orders carry private histories, while the cook's willingness to listen holds the linked stories together. The first Japanese feature adapts a familiar series but remains approachable on its own. Its 2014 festival appearance preceded the 2015 Japanese cinema release.

About Midnight Diner
A restaurant opens at midnight. Both the menu offerings and personality of the owner draw a series of flawed patrons including Tamako, whose boyfriend has passed away, live-in worker Michiru, and ruckus-raising Kenzo.
