A wealthy man's wedding-night death gives Inspector Jatil Yadav a household whose accounts are shaped by money, status and fear. Nawazuddin Siddiqui's awkward authority keeps the questioning lively without making the people around him simple comic suspects. This Hindi-language mystery shares the interest in what a powerful family conceals and who is allowed to speak. The domestic history is harsher than Knives Out's jaunty tone, with sexual abuse part of the material.
