The Kid Detective (2020)
Movie
Released
A former childhood sleuth finally receives an adult murder case, exposing how little his old local celebrity has prepared him for real harm. Adam Brody makes the detective's comic inadequacy surprisingly affecting. The small-town suspect network and accumulation of clues give Knives Out viewers a recognisable way in, but child-abuse themes and other distressing material take it far beyond cosy comedy. Choose it for a mystery with an emotional cost.
