Mini Metro (2015)
7.7/10on IGDB
Released
One subway map contains the whole problem: connect the stations, watch the crowding and revise the lines. The ordinary game can be paused while you plan or attend to something else. On PC, the save-and-resume option holds one in-progress city, so resume it before starting a different game that would replace it. Its pressure comes from a growing network, with none of a long management campaign's setup chores.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker (2018)
6.8/10on IGDB
Released
Each little diorama is a complete place to understand, explore and finish, making a single stage a satisfying use of a small gap. On Switch, the stage selection makes returning straightforward, and optional gems leave extra puzzles for another evening. Some later stages ask for nimble timing, but the campaign does not make you maintain equipment or remember a dense story. Stop at a cleared stage rather than letting a completion checklist decide bedtime.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder (2023)
8.7/10on IGDB
Released
A course offers its own playful idea, then gives you a clear finish before introducing the next one. The map and difficulty ratings make it easy to choose an appropriate next step after a week away. Play the main campaign solo when you need predictable control over your evening, leaving optional online features aside. The later challenges can take repeated attempts, but ordinary progress does not require perfecting every collectible first.

Freshly Frosted (2022)
8.9/10on IGDB
Released
One doughnut conveyor puzzle is a clean target: route it through the required toppings and watch the finished arrangement work. Undo and hints cut down the time lost to an accidental placement or a stubborn blind spot. The puzzles grow harder without introducing a complicated campaign to remember, so you can return to the current board and start thinking. A useful choice when you want a small problem with a proper answer before closing the screen.

Picross S9 (2023)
Released
A numbered grid is self-contained enough that returning does not require remembering who betrayed whom last Thursday. Choose a smaller puzzle for a short evening, and use the assist options at the level that keeps the deduction enjoyable. This Switch entry adds a rewind feature for correcting a chain of mistaken markings, reducing the need to erase the board and start over. The timer is a record of the solve, not a deadline.

A Monster's Expedition (2020)
8.0/10on IGDB
Released
A few trees and a small island can hold a satisfying evening's thinking. Unlimited undo and a local reset make experimenting cheap, while automatic saving keeps the explored world for your return. Later puzzles can connect several islands, so the optional depths are best saved for a less fractured evening. Follow the main route when you want steady discoveries, and let the museum's dry little jokes supply a reward between solutions.
