Reconstructing a damaged recipe makes remembering a family feel practical and specific. This short cooking story follows a South Indian mother and her family in Canada, using meals to express affection, distance and what can be passed on. Loss belongs to that wider family history rather than replacing it. The cooking puzzles reward attention to missing instructions, and the bright food and music leave room for warmth.
