Wide lenses turn faces, windows and night streets into a city that seems to lean towards the people passing through it. Wet surfaces and enclosed interiors amplify the longing. This is Hong Kong as a feverish emotional geography, with stranger, sharper comedy and more violence than Chungking Express.
