Chungking Express (1994)

Crowded Hong Kong passages and wet street light let loneliness exist a few inches from other people. Wong Kar-wai gives the city a rhythm of repeated purchases, missed encounters and songs heard too often. Its humour makes this a companionable late-night choice even when the relationships refuse to synchronise.
