Die Hard: With a Vengeance (1995)

The third Die Hard offers a useful final variation: John McClane's exhausted resourcefulness now has to negotiate Samuel L. Jackson's unwilling partnership. The city gives the action an intelligible working space. Later films amplify his superhero-like survival; stopping here keeps the friction and vulnerability that make the formula appealing.
